Inspector General of Police (IGP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Nasir Khan Durrani has directed police high-ups to further intensify its efforts against militants and outlaws as envisaged in the National Action Plan (NAP).
This he said while presiding over a high-level meeting of Regional Police Officers (RPOs) at CPO Peshawar on Thursday. Additional IGPs headquarters, Special Branch, Operations, Investigation, Commandant Elite Force, DIG CTD, CCPO, DIG headquarters, DIG Traffic, AIG legal and all RPOs attended the meeting.
On this occasion law and order situation in the province was reviewed and several directives were issued to the participants. All RPOs gave detailed briefing about its respective regions with the help of slides.
Additional IGP Investigation Muhammad Ali Baba Khel gave detailed briefing on the implementation status of the directives of the IGP issued to police high-ups from time to time while Director IT Naveed Gul informed the participants about the steps for curbing crime through use of modern gadgetries.
The meeting reviewed the implementation of three laws i.e. tenant and building security of hotels and security of vulnerable places/establishment, performance of dispute resolution councils, police on payments to projects/institutions, action on threat alert, special campaign against proclaimed offenders, search and strike operation under the NAP, effective steps for public complaints, prevention of misuse of loudspeaker and foolproof security steps for the incoming Cantonment Boards and local bodies elections.
The IGP directed the participants to ensure that members of the dispute resolution councils not in any way were political or disputed and any member himself/herself or his/her close relation want to contest the incoming local bodies election, they should be requested to voluntarily with draw himself/herself from the membership of DRCs so that effectiveness and transparency of these councils may be maintained.
They were further directed to sensitise all the heads of vulnerable institutions and foreign projects with the direction to either adopt stringent security measures itself or provide them security on payments on their written request. The participants were also directed for strictly implementation of the three laws about security of vulnerable places, tenant and building and hotels and making a check list of all those which are supposed to be checked and registration of cases against the violators.
In case of any threat alert, the participants were directed to scrutinise the place to be targeted, hold meeting with all stakeholders, carryout targeted combing operation in the area, check the place through concerned SHO once in week and bring all these correspondences in black and white.
RPOs were further directed to tighten the screw around the neck of the proclaimed offenders, launch a special one month campaign against them with immediate effect, fix target for itself in it and achieve it at all cost, give due attention to the complaints of the general public by personally contacting the complainants and take prompt action for its solutions, check misuse of load speaker and adopt effective steps for prevention of theft cases and robberies in banks.
It was also noted in the meeting that holding of incoming local bodies elections in a peaceful atmosphere was a big challenge for the police and the participants were directed to prepare contingency plan and make clear command and control in this connection.
