The Karachi Port handled 215,036 tonnes of cargo comprising 139,261 tonnes of import cargo and 75,775 tonnes of export cargo including 651 loaded and empty containers during the last 48 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday.
The total import cargo of 139,261 tonnes comprised of 9,825 tonnes of containerised cargo; 669 tonnes of general cargo; 31,106 tonnes of coal meal and 97,661 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. The total export cargo of 75,775 tonnes comprised of 24,687 tonnes of containerised cargo; 18,738 tonnes of cement and 32,350 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 651 containers comprising of 101 containers import and 550 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The break-up of imported containers shows 31 of 20's and 35 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and nil of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 224 of 20's and 158 of 40's loaded containers while nil of 20's and 5 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were twelve ships namely Hyundai Bangkok, APL Seattle, Nagoya Tower, Sakaka, Gulf Mist, BW Zambesi, Al Jalaa, Pyxis Malou, Tulip, Grand Bridge, TCG Gediz and Sheng Shi carrying containers, oil tankers, rice, naval ship and vehicles respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were seven vessels viz. ER Helgoland, Shalamar, Miseno, Genuine Venus, Ikan Pandan, Kiran America and Sheng Shi carrying containers, oil tankers, coal, fertilizer and vehicles respectively currently at the berths.
There was one ship namely Kota Kaya carrying containers sailed out to sea on Monday, while three ships namely Shalamar, Ikan Pandan and Alam Madu carrying oil tankers, coal and cement are expected to sail on Tuesday. There were three vessels viz. Pona, Hanjin Scarlet and Turris carrying containers and mogas respectively due to arrive on Monday, while nine vessels viz. Commodore, Northern Power, SSL Gujarat, Trident Star, Gema, Brich-3, Jin Jun, Alam Makmur and Da Zi Yun carrying containers, oil tanker, mogas, steel rolled plate, steel and general cargo respectively are due to arrive on Tuesday.
The total export cargo of 33,873 tonnes includes 33,873 tonnes of containerised cargo. There was one ship namely CV Hermess Arrow with containers sailed out sea on Monday morning, while three ships namely CV MSC Antalia, CV Pona and MT Bering Sea carrying containers and crude oil are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of seven vessels viz. CV Hermess Arrow, CV MSC Antalia, CV Pona, MV Greenery Sea, MV Da Zi Yun, MT Bering Sea and MT Bunga Allium currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, rice, general cargo, crude oil and edible oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as seven ships namely MSC Luisa, MSC Damla, Ikan Salmon, Asavari, Al-Mukhtara, Brizo and Al-Salam-II carrying containers, cement, chemical, furnace oil and diesel oil respectively at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim on Monday.
There were five vessels carrying containers, rice, general cargo and edible oil respectively took berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, FAP Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Sunday.
There are four ships namely CV MSC Luisa, CV MSC Damla, MV Ikan Salmon and MV Asavari carrying containers, cement and chemical due to arrive on Monday.
