Soyameal demand was thin on Friday in Europe's livestock meals market as mostly higher prices deterred buyers who had taken advantage of a weaker dollar to book deals earlier in the week. Brazilian high protein soyameal for April delivery was offered up $3 a tonne from Thursday at $419 a tonne cif Rotterdam, while the corresponding position for Argentina high-protein soyameal was also marked up $3, to $391 a tonne.
Market prices were supported by gains in US soyabeans and soyameal futures. The dollar lost some more ground against the euro but the drop was less pronounced than earlier in the week. One trade was reported in Brazilian soyameal pellets at $392 cif Amsterdam afloat on the Saronic Trader vessel (see below). No deals were quoted in other products.
Euro-denominated rapeseed meal was marked down, with the May delivery position offered down 3 euros at 242 euros a tonne, FOB Lower Rhine, reflecting the strength in the euro and earlier losses in rapeseed futures in Paris.
