K-Electric looks forward to welcoming President of the People's Republic of China H.E. Mr XI Jinping

K-Electric welcomes the Honourable President of the People's Republic of China H.E. Mr Xi Jinping to Pakistan and hopes for further economic and social ties with China. This friendship. which has been of strategic importance and dates back to well over 60 years has drawn the two Nations closer to each other, further strengthening the Pakistan-China Axis. The long-standing ties between the two countries have been mutually beneficial ever since diplomatic, social and economic ties were built. The Economic High Points reached between the two countries are of utmost importance as tar as regional stability is concerned.
Different companies and firms of both countries have been closely tied ever since the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) was signed almost 8 years ago. The trade volume between Pakistan and China has been in billions of dollars for the past many years and we hope this increases further. K-Electric (KE) has always given China Strategic importance and has worked very closely with Chinese Firms. Over the last few years, K-Electric (KE) has aggressively pursued opportunities to add more value into Karachi's generation, transmission, and distribution capacity. In this regard, the company has entered into multiple agreements with high-ranking Chinese companies such as Harbin Electric International and Shanghai Electric Group, who are considered giants in the power industry within China and across the world.
Not only has KE established its State-of-the-art 560 MW Bin Qasim Power Station 2 in collaboration with Harbin Electric of China, other significant investments and partnerships with Harbin Electric of China include the conversion of 2 units at the Bin Qasim Power Station 1 which will help produce cheaper electricity via coal instead of the expensive Furnace Oil. On the other hand Shanghai Electric and KE have also entered into a contract over the establishment of new transmission project "TP 1000" at a total cost of USD 365 million. The project's successful execution will further alleviate the burden on generation that Karachi faces. Earlier this year an accord was signed with China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC) and China Datang Overseas Investment Company to boost power generation through coal. A Joint Development Agreement (JDA) was signed and through this JDA our commitment with Chinese companies has been further solidified.
On the other hand China Datang Overseas company is a wholly owned subsidiary of China Datang Corporation which is one of the top 5 power generation enterprises in China. CDT is amongst the top Fortune 500 listed companies having its operations in over 31 provinces of China. KE has successfully invested millions of dollars after partnering with Chinese Firms and the results speak for it self and KE respects and cherishes this partnership and looks forward to more of the same in the coming years. CMEC is a Hong Kong listed world renowned engineering contractor specialising in the construction to power projects in Generation, Transmission and Distribution, CMEC extends its business outreach to more than 150 countries and regions in the fields of engineering contracts and international trade.
