Director General of Sindh Rangers on Tuesday asked the citizens to surrender their illegal weapons/weapons kept on fake license at the nearest Rangers post by April 30. A Rangers spokesperson in a press release said that DG Rangers had observed with concerns that in most of the targeted killing/heinous crimes illegal weapons and weapons kept on fake license were used.
In the past, some of armed dealers were making fake licenses used as cover to transport illegal weapons for target killings. Keeping illegal arms or using fake licenses constitute offence under Section23-1-A of Sindh Arms Ordinance 2013. Maximum punishment for which is 14-years rigorous imprisonment, it said. Individuals in possession/retainers of illegal weapons will be dealt as collaborators and associate of target killer and will be booked under Anti Terrorism Court (ATC).
