A parliamentary Jirga comprising members of all political parties having representation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was constituted to take up the issues regarding province's rights with the federal government. The Jirga, which will be headed by Chief Minister Pervez Khattak, was constituted during a meeting of the Special Committee formed by Speaker Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly during the current session. The Special Committee comprised leaders of all parliamentary parties with Speaker as chairman.
During the meeting of the committee, two new members each from opposition and treasury benches including Syed Jaffar Shah of ANP, Anisa Zeb Tahirkheli of Qaumi Watan Party (QWP), provincial ministers Mohammad Atif and Shah Farman were also included in it. Addressing the meeting, KP Chief Minister Pervez Khattak asked the federal government to end unannounced loadshedding in the province and pay the outstanding amount in the head of net-profit on hydel power generation, payment of arrears to the tone of Rs 160 billion in head of other taxes, allow the province to generate electricity from additional gas and hydel power resources and restore the original route of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.
The chief minister announced joining hands with parliamentary leaders to use all forums for the achievements of the rights of the province. The parliamentary leaders in KP Assembly announced complete support to the chief minister and assured him full co-operation for the passage of unanimous resolution from the assembly in this regard.
