"The Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) will partner with more than 1,500 low-cost private schools during the current year in 36 districts of the province. This will be the largest ever expansion in the foundation's history to open the doors of education to more and more deserving students living in remote and less-developed areas." PEF Chairman Engineer Qamar-ul-Islam Raja said this during a meeting with representative delegation of owners of PEF partner schools belonging to different districts in his office here on Thursday.
He said, "Partner schools are an integral part of education-promotion drive in the Punjab and their proactive contribution will help to achieve the goal of Parho Punjab, Barho Punjab by 2018. PEF new admission policy will benefit the out of school and dropout children to study without being burdened."
He said in a bid to use the latest technology to promote education, his foundation had also introduced state-of-the-art geographical information system to identify new sites for schools partnership in education-wise backward areas. "Now PEF-FAS Phase 8 partners will also be paid for their primary section enrolment and hoped that this would benefit the deserving students studying in these schools. And it is a proud symbol of efficiency, transparency and cost-effectiveness in the province, as its public private partnership model is very efficient in arranging free quality education for the deserving students. This has also benefited and strengthened the low-cost private schools in a number of ways including teachers training and capacity-building of school heads," he said.
