Sindh Governor Dr Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan has stressed the need for regular submission of the Local Governments' accounts to Sindh Public Accounts Committee (PAC) to strengthen financial discipline. Director General Audit, Local Councils Sindh Muhammad Ali Shah Bukhari presented annual report (2013-14) of his institution to Dr Ishrat at Governor House on Wednesday.
The report was related to the audit of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, Karachi Water and Sewerage Board, and municipal bodies of Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Larkana, Khairpur and other districts. The Governor praised the efforts of the Auditor General of Pakistan.
However, he expressed concern that previous accounts reports of municipal institutions did not come under consideration in the Public Accounts Committee, which was important for promoting good governance and financial discipline. Principal Secretary Muhammad Hussain Syed and other officials were also present.
