Leaders of farmers and workers have demanded the Sindh government to raise minimum wages of workers to Rs 25000 per month and ensure the implementation of the labour laws in spirit and letter. They were addressing a conference on "Sindh Farmers and Workers" jointly organized by National Trade Union Federation (NTUF), Sindh Agriculture General Workers Union (SAGWU) and Home-based women workers (HWW) here on Sunday.
People from different walks of live including students, workers and other stakeholders participated in the conference.
They further demanded that appointment letters be issued to workers before their formal joining factories and industries units and labour inspections be resumed at once. President NTUF, Rafique Baloch said that labourers, farmers and workers were facing serious financial crisis despite an elected government was in power.
Laborers and workers made many sacrifices for restoring democracy in the country but the democracy did not resolve their issues and problems, he added.
