SUNDAY APRIL 26: PM calls Nepalese PM: Pakistani nationals in Nepal are safe: FO

LONDON: The Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif spoke to the Prime Minister of Nepal Sushil Koirala from London and extended his deep condolences on the massive earthquake that struck Nepal Saturday morning resulting in extensive loss of life and property. On PM's directions relief goods, including medicines, doctors and nurses as well as tents and blankets etc are being sent to Kathmandu.
These relief goods will reach Nepalese capital as soon as the airport becomes functional. The PM has directed Foreign Office to keep him updated on the evolving situation in Nepal and relief needs of the people. Meanwhile, the spokesperson of the foreign office, Tasneem Aslam, on Saturday said that Pakistani nationals are safe in Nepal.
She said that we are constantly in contact with the Pakistan Embassy Nepal, and none of the causality of Pakistani national registered in Nepal. An earthquake measuring 7.9 magnitude, and only 12 km deep, struck east of Pokhara in Nepal on Saturday causing buildings in the capital Kathmandu to collapse. A nine-storey tower was also collapsed in Kathmandu following massive earthquake hit the Nepalese capital. Around hundreds of bodies were taken away from the ruins of the Dharhara tower in the centre of the capital which sustained massive damage when the 7.9 magnitude quake struck at lunchtime.
