The Karachi Port handled 111,221 tonnes of cargo comprising 92,458 tonnes of import cargo and 18,763 tonnes of export cargo including 4,310 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday. The total import cargo of 92,458 tonnes comprised of 39,715 tonnes of containerised cargo; 5,936 tonnes of general cargo; 25,050 tonnes of bulk cargo: 20,500 tonnes of coal; 4,550 tonnes of DAP and 21,757 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 18,763 tonnes comprised of 16,463 tonnes of containerised cargo; 160 tonnes of general cargo and 2,140 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 4,310 containers comprising of 2,852 containers import and 1,458 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 978 of 20's and 828 of 40's loaded while 2 of 20's and 108 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 463 of 20's and 183 of 40's loaded containers while 163 of 20's and 233 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were four ships namely Kota Karim, Posen, Trident Star and Mid Falcon carrying containers and oil tankers respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were six vessels viz. Corvette, Posen, Mare Caribicum, Turris, Intrepid Republic and He He carrying containers, oil tanker, chemical and steel respectively currently at the berths.
There were four ships namely Corvette, Mare Caribicum, Intrepid Republic and He He carrying containers, chemical and steel respectively sailed out to sea on Tuesday, while another ship namely Kiran America carrying DAP is expected to sail on Wednesday.
There were three vessels viz. UAFL Zanzibar, DL Clover and Drago J carrying containers, oil tanker and general cargo due to arrive on Tuesday, while five vessels viz. PAC Aries, Irenes Wisdom, AS Olivia, Oriental Sakura and Harrier carrying containers, oil tanker and coal respectively are due to arrive on Wednesday.
