President Mamnoon Hussain taking notice of the murder of Assistant Professor Waheed-ur-Rehman of Karachi University, also known as Yasir Rizvi, on Wednesday directed Chief Minister Sindh to submit the report on the heinous murder and immediately arrest the perpetrators. The President called for bringing the perpetrators of the crime to book, said a press release issued by the President Office here.
The President stated that indiscriminate action against terrorists was continuing in Karachi adding that the government was taking all possible measures to ensure peace in the metropolis. He emphasised that killing of innocent people will not be tolerated. The President also extended his condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for the departed soul.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday strongly condemned the killing of Karachi University's Assistant Professor (Dr) Syed Waheed-ur-Rahman and sought report into the incident. The Prime Minister directed authorities to apprehend the criminals at the earliest, a PM Office statement said.
A report from Karachi adds: Sindh Governor Dr Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan has expressed deep grief over the assassination of Assistant Professor of Mass Communication Department, University of Karachi, Dr Syed Waheed-ur-Rehman. In a statement on Wednesday, Dr Ebad has directed the DG Rangers and IG Police Sindh to immediately arrest the culprits. The Governor prayed for the rest of the departed soul in eternal peace and grant courage to bereaved family to bear the loss.
