The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has provisionally collected Rs 1,975 billion during July-April (2014-15) against Rs 1745 billion in the corresponding period of last fiscal, reflecting a growth of 13 percent. According to the data compiled by the FBR here on Thursday, the FBR has monthly collected Rs 200 billion during April 2015 against Rs 170 billion in the same period of last fiscal, showing a growth of 17 percent.
The FBR is facing an uphill task to collect Rs 716 billion to meet the revised revenue collection target of Rs 2691 billion in the remaining period (May-June) of 2014-15. On average basis, tax machinery is required to monthly collect Rs 358 billion in May and June of 2014-15. In May 2014, the FBR collected Rs 208 billion. In June last year, the revenue collection amounted to Rs 313.206 billion. The government had fixed FBR's annual tax collection target of Rs 2,810 billion for 2014-15. It was revised downward to Rs 2,756 billion and then slashed to Rs 2,691 billion. The revised revenue collection target for last quarter (2014-15) has been set at Rs 900 billion.
