The All Parties Hurriyet Conference Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has said that the issuance of Permanent Resident Certificates by PDP-BJP regime at school level is a dangerous ploy to give state subject status to non-Kashmiris and pave way for their permanent settlement in the territory. Mirwaiz Umar Farooq addressing a public gathering in occupied Srinagar said that the aim of such plans by the PDP-BJP regime was to change the demographic composition of the territory and weaken its Muslim majority character.
He said that the people of Kashmir were aware of the designs of BJP and would resist it tooth and nail at all levels. The APHC Chairman asked the pro-India PDP to come clean on its policy with regard to separate townships for the Kashmiri Pandits.
The PDP should stop its game of running with the hare and hunting with the hound. We categorically reject the idea of separate townships for Pandits. This idea is unacceptable to people of occupied Kashmir, he added. He said that a team of ulema from Muttahida-Majlis-e-Ulema would leave for Jammu on Monday to meet their Pandit brethren.
"The team will know their concerns and needs and convince them to return to the fold, he maintained. Mirwaiz said that the international community including the UN and the OIC needed to play a proactive role and put pressure on India to resolve the Kashmir dispute as they did in case of East Timor and South Sudan. Since India and Pakistan have not been able to solve this issue bilaterally, third party intervention becomes inevitable, he added. He also welcomed the statement of the United Nations Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon that the UN was willing to use its good offices to help Pakistan and India resolve their differences.
