The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has rounded the government for failing to reveal publicly the Abbottabad Commission inquiry report after four years, whereas the 40-minute American air raid in Abbottabad killed Oosama bin Ladin in 2011.
Punjab President Ejaz Chaudhary has claimed, "It has been four years since the US unilateral military action in Abbottabad took place. If the report is not to be made public, then why was such an extensive exercise undertaken in the first place? The Abbottabad Commission Report was released by Al Jazeera on July 8, 2013. If Al Jazeera can have access to the report, why can't the people of Pakistan? He questioned. "It is unfortunate that we have a bad history of commissions in Pakistan. Where is Nawaz Sharif and PML-N now who were at that time asking for a judicial commission. Now since Sharif is the PM of the country, why cannot he make the report public?"
He also attacked the PPP, accusing the former party-led government of being busy in saving its own skin through manipulation during the whole affair but it was unfortunate that no one was ready to take the responsibility. Secretary General Yasmin Rashid claimed that Pakistan and its political leaders had never behaved as a sovereign state. She said whether it was drone attacks or an American unilateral military operation in Abbottabad the political elite never took up the issue seriously. "Over the years the sad confrontation of army and civil governments is the reflection of a bad policy implementation by successive governments. How many innocent peoples have died in drone attacks since 2004, but the Americans keep targeting and violating Pakistan's sovereignty openly. Our confused leadership is somewhere sleeping and has lead to a culture of mistrust," she added.
Also Information Secretary Andaleeb Abbas joined the critics, claiming that Pakistan could never remain silent over the American violation of borders. She said it was her party that had given the voice to the nation on drone attacks otherwise it was a norm to accept the killings of innocent people. "It is time to warn the US that our military has capability and resources to conduct secret operations and locate terrorist hideouts."
