Residents of various villages in provincial assembly constituency PK-10 have complained the sending of inflated electricity bills to them by Pesco, and excessive power outages in the localities, demanding the unannounced electricity loadshedding should be immediately stopped.
Speaking at a news conference at press conference here on Saturday, Jan Afzal Surazai said that despite the regularly depositing power bills, the Peshawar Electricity Supply Company has been carried unannounced electricity loadshedding from 20 to 22 hours in villages, including Surazai, Musazai, and Mira Surazai, of PK-6. He accused that State Minister for Water and Power, Abid Sher Ali, has instructed to Pesco carryout maximum power outages in their localities of NA-4, due to political rivalry, which was ultimately, affected poor people. He, however, admitted that the electricity is being stealing in their localities in PK-10. But, he said it was not only issue of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, rather the electricity supplying through illegal hooks and connections other parts of the country.
For which, Afzal was held Federal government and Pesco responsible for not taking action against power thefts in other provinces. "KP is among major electricity generation province, despite the fact, there wasn't supply electricity as per demand", he regretted. He said our province is being deserved to give its people special subsidize on electricity bills. He said the government and Pesco neither supplying electricity as per demand nor ending prolonged electricity outages in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Flanked by elders of area, Qari Muhammad, Ajab Gul, Dr Faridullah, and Bashirullah, and others, he also raised the issue of sending inflated electricity bills by Pesco, which he termed, was completely unjust with electricity consumers, who were regularly depositing their bills.
The residents demanded of the government and Pesco to stop excessive power outages and sending of inflated bills, in all villages of NA-4 forthwith, otherwise, they warned that would remove their electricity meters and would not pay bills from the next month. They further said the power meters will present to Pesco chief as gift, and would also hold a 'Kafan posh dharna' outside the building of Wapda headquarter in Peshawar.
