Chief Executive of Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), S M Muneer has expressed concern over persisting water shortage and said that businessmen are compelled to buy water at high cost from tanker mafia to keep their businesses running.
Speaking at a reception hosted by Danish Khan, Former Chairman of Pakistan Tannery Association (PTA), he said that soon a meeting will be held with Corps Commander, Lieutenant General Naveed Mukhtar and D G Rangers to apprise them about water scarcity and seek their help to resolve the issue. Referring to weekly holidays, he said Pakistan is a developing country and it can not afford to have two holidays in a week.
Senator Abdul Haseeb Khan voiced his concern over increasing incidents of target killings of doctors, professors, police officers. He termed it as very serious matter and emphasised that it should be thoroughly probed. The efforts to maintain law and order by army, rangers and police are commendable and they are making effective moves. Khalid Tawab said that FPCCI proving all possible feedback to federal government which may help finance ministry to prepare balance and business-friendly budget. He informed that suggestions were given by FPCCI to federal government to resolve the issues pertaining to customs, sales tax, rebate, circular debt and refunds. Further, it is also recommended to abolish the SRO culture.
President KATI, Rashid Ahmed Siddiqui said regretted new wave of target killings and urged the provincial government to take practical security measures to control killing in the city. He said that the recent wave of violence in Karachi indicates that the law enforcement agencies must be more vigilant to control it. Gulzar Firoz said that we have to abolish the holiday culture and concentrate on work to progress. Danish Khan said the regulatory authorities should provide maximum incentives to exporters.
