The parliamentary leader of Jamaat-i-Islami Dr Syed Waseem Akhtar has submitted a resolution in the Punjab Assembly Secretariat here on Sunday to condemn Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain for his anti-army and Pakistan speeches. The resolution said: "this house condemns MQM Quaid Altaf Hussain's irresponsible behaviour towards the national security institutions and his inimical and anti Pakistan speeches."
The resolution called upon the federal government to take notice of Altaf Hussain's anti- Pakistan and army tirades and put a ban on direct telecast of his speeches. Besides, the government should also ban MQM to stop its fascisms in the country.
The resolution further demanded that Altaf Hussain be extradited from England and be tried under Article 6 of the constitution.
Opposition leader in the Punjab Assembly Mian Mahmoodur Rashid of PTI told Business Recorder that he would submit PTI's condemnation resolution in the Punjab Assembly on Monday. The Punjab Assembly is not in session.
The Parliamentary Leader of PML-Q in the assembly and the party's provincial General Secretary Chaudhry Zaheeruddin Khan said that anyone speaking against the army, inside or outside the parliament cannot be tolerated.
He said the army is fighting against terrorism for security of 200 million Pakistanis, its officers and jawans are offering sacrifices of their lives and achieving successes, at this stage criticism for political objectives is condemnable and amounts to harming the war against terrorism which is highly intolerable,
He said the entire nation is firmly behind the army, it does not suit the political parties which accept the Constitution of Pakistan and are part of democratic process that they should ask for help from an enemy country and thus hurt the national sentiments.
PTI leaders have already stated that it would move a motion in the National Assembly to condemn MQM Quaid's tirade against the national security institutions and the country. Altaf Hussain has made a habit to make disgusting and intolerable speeches and then seek forgiveness, they added.
