The Karachi Port handled 221,591 tonnes of cargo comprising 188,138 tonnes of import cargo and 33,453 tonnes of export cargo including 3,085 loaded and empty containers during the last 48 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday. The total import cargo of 188,138 tonnes comprised of 26,025 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,727 tonnes of general cargo; 101,530 tonnes of bulk cargo: 82,555 tonnes of coal; 18,975 tonnes of rock phosphate and 58,856 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 33,453 tonnes comprised of 33,373 tonnes of containerised cargo and 80 tonnes of general cargo. As many as 3,085 containers comprising of 1,556 containers import and 1,529 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday. The break-up of imported containers shows 652 of 20's and 452 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and nil of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 591 of 20's and 316 of 40's loaded containers while 72 of 20's and 117 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were seven ships namely Hyundai Singapore, Sakaka, SC Taipei, Jumaira, Harrier, DA Cheng and Zi Jing Song carrying containers, oil tankers, coal and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were eight vessels viz. ER Helgoland, HS Harvest, Kota Kasturi, BW Zambesi, Desh Bhakt, Bum Shin, Da Cui Yun and Zi Jing Song carrying containers, oil tankers and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
There were four ships namely Kota Kasturi, HS Everest, Kastro and Da Cui Yun carrying containers, coal and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea on Monday, while three ships namely Desh Bhakt, BW Zambesi and Apiradee Naree carrying oil tanker and coal respectively are expected to sail on Tuesday. There were four vessels viz. MOL Distinction, ACX Crystal, Miseno and Shan Ying Zuo carrying containers, oil tanker and mogas respectively due to arrive on Monday, while nine vessels viz. Sima Prestige, Uni Premier, SSL Mumbai, Mid Nature, Trident Star, DL Ace, Star Jin, Nave Atropos and Miho carrying containers, oil tankers, coal, mogas and steel respectively are due to arrive on Tuesday.
The total export cargo of 35,595 tonnes includes 35,595 tonnes of containerised cargo. There were four ships namely CV TG Poseidon, CV Tommi Ritscher, CV ACX Crystal and MT Lilac Victoria with containers and diesel oil sailed out sea on Monday morning.
A total number of seven vessels viz. CV TG Poseidon, CV Tommi Ritscher, CV ACX Crystal, MV Friendly Island, MT Lilac Victoria, MV Exquisite and MT Able Sailor currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, cement, LNG, diesel oil and edible oil respectively during the last 24 hours. As many as four ships namely ACX Crystal, MSC Freedom, Saigon Express and Bochem Ghent carrying containers and chemical respectively at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim on Monday.
There were three vessels carrying containers, chemical and edible oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Sunday. There are three ships namely CV MSC Freedom, CV Saigon Express and MV Bochem Ghent carrying containers and chemical respectively due to arrive on Monday.
