The world community today applauds the spirit to courage that the firefighters show while performing their call of duty. These firefighters dedicate their lives for protecting others. We recognise their commitment and appreciate the firefighters who continue to protect us even at the cost of their own lives. Fires result into deaths, injuries and property damages and also cause huge economic losses. Fire also causes environmental damages.
Provision of foolproof fire safety measures in building codes is therefore of utmost importance. Our government is contingent of this fact and is working for implementation of fire safety codes at national level. We need to develop similar codes at provincial and district levels. For stringent implementation of fire safety standards, I commend Pakistan's response mechanism for firefighting. We must appreciate Rescue 1122 Services and firefighting units of various Municipalities/Civil Defence, for their dedication and commitment to the call of duty. They work endlessly and selflessly whenever and where ever the nation needs them. I salute Pakistan's firefighters on this Day and I wish them a safe and successful future.
