PM honours Arfa Karim with commemorative stamp
KARACHI: Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has approved a commemorative stamp in honour of the youngest Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) Arfa Karim.
The postage has been issued for the late Arfa’s services to the nation.
Arfa Karim, the world's youngest Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP), died at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) on January 14 at the age of only sixteen. She suffered an epileptic seizure in December 2011, which affected her brain and heart. She suffered for 26 days at the CMH before she lost her life to the condition. She was born in 1995.
Her funeral prayers were offered on Januray 15 at 10 am in the Cantt area.
The world’s youngest MCP was an honour for Pakistan.
In August 2005, Arfa was honoured by the government of Pakistan with the Fatima Jinnah Gold Medal in the field of Science and Technology.
In 2006, she also participated in Microsoft keynote session in the Tech-Ed Developers Conference held in Barcelona. The theme of the conference was “Get ahead of the game”.
Arfa was a great example of being ahead of the game.
