'Anti-Pakistan' speech: PTI submits resolution against Altaf in National Assembly
Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) on Wednesday submitted a resolution in the National Assembly, condemning Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) supremo Altaf Hussain's 'anti-Pakistan' speech and calling upon the government to take stern action against him. The resolution was signed by PTI MNAs Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Dr Arif Alvi and was submitted to NA secretariat by PTI MNAs Dr Shireen Mazari and Munaza Hassan, which is likely to be taken in the upcoming session.
"It has become a common practice of the MQM Chief - a British citizen Altaf Hussain - to address his party workers in Pakistan from the UK, in which he attacks Pakistan's state institutions," it added. It sated that the PTI condemn the hateful speech made by Altaf Hussain, which falls under treason, against the armed forces of Pakistan, adding the armed forces have rendered countless sacrifices for the country and are presently engaged in the fight against terror.
"We condemn Altaf Hussain's incitement of his workers to take up arms and practice target shooting on a beach in Karachi in preparation for some dangerous and malicious action in the future," it added. The PTI objected to the remarks made by MQM supremo in which he had sought help from Indian spy agency RAW - the agency has a long history of anti-Pakistan activities including its role in the dismemberment of Pakistan, to intervene in Pakistan.
The PTI called for action against MQM under the constitution of Pakistan. The resolution called upon the government to ask the UK government to take action against Altaf Hussain under British laws which prevents any of its citizens from inciting people in and outside the UK to hatred and violence from British soil. "Move the UN Human Rights Commission, the monitoring body of the ICCPR, in an inter state petition under Article 20(2) which deals with inciting national, religious or racial hatred as both Pakistan and the UK are Party to the ICCPR," it added.
It was also demanded in the resolution to ban Altaf Hussain's telephonic speeches from UK as he is a dual national and according to the Political Parties Act, a person can not head a political party in Pakistan. The PTI had also passed a resolution in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, condemning the speech made by Altaf Hussain, while a similar resolution was not allowed to be tabled by Speaker Sindh provincial assembly for reasons best known to him.
