Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief Imran Khan said on Thursday that next week is crucial for decision of NA-122 as it would become clear whether Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq is going to lose his seat due to the rigging. Talking to media persons, he said that massive irregularities were found in pre-scan report of the constituency and the same was submitted to the election tribunal probing the rigging allegations.
It is pertinent to mention here that Imran Khan contested 2013 general elections from NA-122 against the PML-N candidate Sardar Ayaz Sadiq wherein the latter was declared winner. Khan has, however, levelled rigging allegations against Sadiq and has been pursuing the case in the election tribunal against him. The election tribunal ordered to have forensic report of the votes polled in the constituency from National Database and Registration Authority to ascertain whether the rigging was done or not.
Citing a pre-scan report prepared and submitted by the NADRA to the election tribunal, Khan said that electoral lists of 34 polling stations have not been found in the record while duplicate ballot papers found in 30 polling stations. He said that he obtained the report from the election tribunal and the NADRA has yet to submit a final and forensic report of the votes to the tribunal.
It is becoming a history in Pakistan that a vote fraud is being investigated through a judicial commission of the Supreme Court, he said, adding the verdict of the commission would pave way for a Naya Pakistan. Khan said that it is mandate of the commission to unearth the rigging in the 2013 general elections as the tribunals can only give verdict on whether the elections were conducted fairly or not.
"The Election Commission of Pakistan is itself involved in the rigging; so how can it investigate the rigging and punish culprits," he questioned. He said that the NADRA has been doing thumb verification of the votes polled in the NA-122 and the subsequent report would reveal the rigging done in the constituency.
Imran Khan has been vehemently pursuing the case in the election tribunal and has visited the NADRA office twice to ensure the vote audit report is submitted with the tribunal at the earliest. Talking about NA-125 where the PML-N leader Khawaja Saad Rafique has been de-notified by the ECP after an election tribunal found massive irregularities in the constituency he said adding that Rafique himself admitted that Returning Officers and Presiding Officers failed to do their job honestly.
"It is now up to the judicial commission to decide that who was responsible for the rigging and who was behind the returning officers," he said. Khan also congratulated the people, especially the youth, for partaking in the 126-day historic dharna against the rigging in 2013 general elections.
