The Sindh High Court on Monday was informed that a large number of the arms licences were issued in the name of Dr Zulifqar Mirza, his wife and son, which showed that he had formed his own private militia, which was violation the Constitution. IG Sindh submitted a report to the division bench of SHC which was hearing a petition of Dr Zulifqar Mirza against withdrawal of security personnel employed for his security. In a report, the IG stated that the licences of prohibited bore issued by the interior ministry would be produced later.
It was stated that the hundreds of persons armed to the teeth escort Mirza and majority of them are involved in criminal cases, adding that several women, carrying prohibited weapons, were seen on the news channels, which created a sense of fear and terror in district Badin.
This private army is prohibited by the Article 256 of the Constitution, added the report. The IG said that the SSP Badin had also been directed to deploy security personnel for the security of the petitioner and his family members. Responding to Mirza's allegation about Faryal Talpur's security, he said that Talpur has been provided appropriate security for her safety and security as the special branch had issued a report, stating the terrorists had planned an attack on her.
