The government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will soon begin the issuance of special cards to be called as Insaf Cards to the poor and deserving people of the province for providing flour and edible oil to them on subsided rates. This was told to Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak during a meeting held at CM Secretariat under his chairmanship.
Minister for Education Muhammad Atif Khan, Advisor to Chief Minister on C&W Akbar Ayub, Additional Chief Secretary, Secretary Information, Project Director Insaf Cards and concerned NADRA officials attended the meeting. The meeting reviewed progress made so far on preparation of Insaf cards and discussed various issues in this regard. It was informed that a total 743 thousand deserving people from all over the province were identified to whom the edible items would be provided on quite lesser than market rates every month.
The Project Director Insaf Cards told that Computerised National Identity Cards (CNIC) of 560 thousand applicants were found valid for opening their accounts in banks and issuing Insaf cards to them. It, however, noticed that CNICs of the other people were found expired due to which preparation of their Insaf cards was kept pending as a valid CNIC was required for Insaf card, he added.
The Chief Minister directed the NADRA authorities to take measures for renewing the expired CNICs of the deserving applicants so as to enable maximum number of the poor and deserving people to get benefit from the scheme. He also directed the concerned authorities to ensure distribution of Insaf cards at district level so as to make it convenient for the applicants to collect their cards at their door step. He also agreed to a proposal for launching health insurance scheme for the poor and asked the relevant authority to work out the proposal properly and submit report for consideration.
Meanwhile, presiding over a meeting regarding affairs of education department, Chief Minister Pervez Khattak asked Communication and Works department to determine service charges of consultants in accordance with prescribed rules only for restoring the old and historic buildings of 200 schools of the province.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government had allocated an amount of 4.6 billion rupees for rehabilitating the buildings of such schools. Chief Minister Pervez Khattak also directed C&W to revise the scheduled rates for C&W contracts only once a year instead of biennial basis.
