Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inaam Memon on Monday criticised former home minister Zulfiqar Mirza for what he called 'obscene' statements against PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari and the party. "Mirza should be ashamed of the language he uses. I believe this is not politics but obscenity, because the choice of words is very important in politics," he told reporters outside the Sindh Assembly.
"Today you are abusing all those who used to be with you. Today you see us as killers, and see all the wrongs and corruption in us. When you were home minister, if you have these stories of murder, then why didn't you arrest those criminals then?" he asked. He said that Mirza was intentionally trying to create a false 'charge-sheet' against the PPP, which he said numerous rivals had hurled at the party several times in the past, as well.
Sharjeel claimed that television channels had shown the former Sindh home minister forcibly shutting down shops in Badin and entering a police station with armed guards. He claimed that in the past the Supreme Court had taken suo motu notice when PPP leader Waheeda Shah had shown similar inappropriate behaviour. He said that Mirza had openly challenged the writ of the government, and asked why the higher judiciary does not take suo motu notice of his blatant violation of laws.
"Mirza took law in his hands, forcefully shut markets and misbehaved with Badin DSP," the minister claimed, saying such an attitude did not suit any political leader. "Personal attacks on the PPP leadership must be stopped", he said while criticising Mirza's allegations against Asif Ali Zardari. The minister said: "Though the Sindh government had provided security to Mirza, terrorism in the name of private security cannot be tolerated."
