A Lahore High Court judge has passed on a petition by a former judge Muhammad Arshad Jahangir to the chief justice to consult a full bench seeking the payment of pension. Petitioner Counsel Malik Awais told the court on Thursday that former judge Jahangir, appointed on December 1, 2004, had served for three years in the court and after retirement appointed a judge of the Federal Shariat Court for two years and then served as head of the Punjab Service Tribunal.
He said even after eight years of service in judiciary, the petitioner had failed to pay the pension. The state counsel argued that the petitioner was ineligible for pension since only those retired judges could claim, who had held office for at least five years.
