The industrial and business community has urged the government to take appropriate measures to bring an end to killings of innocent people, doctors, professors and other people as the poor law and situation was tarnishing the image of the metropolis. Moreover, the city's worsening law and order situation was also sending negative signals to the international community, besides creating unrest among general public and business community, they added.
Condemning Wednesday's senseless attack on the innocent people of Ismaili community, businessmen and industrialists, including Korangi Association of Trade and Industry's (KATI) president Rashid Ahmed Siddiqui, KATI's patron-in-chief S.M. Muneer, Senator Abdul Haseeb Khan, Makhdoom Riaz, Mohammad Hussain, expressed their grief and sorrow over the loss of precious lives in the incident.
Voicing their concern over the killing of innocent people in the unfortunate incident, they demanded of the government to take effective measures to control the city's deteriorating law and order situation and apprehend the culprits responsible for Wednesday's barbaric act.
They also urged the government, all political and religious parties and law-enforcement agencies to wipe out the elements whose nefarious aim is to paralyze life in the city. S.M. Muneer urged Rangers and police to speed up their action against terrorists and criminals and bring them to justice. He demanded of the government to recover illegal arms for maintaining law and order in the city.
Senator Abdul Haseeb Khan said that the enemies of Pakistan were against the country's progress and prosperity and as such they be nabbed and given exemplary punishment. Makhdoom Riaz said that general public has lost confidence in law-enforcement agencies. Terming Wednesday's attack on innocent and defenceless people `an assault on the entire society', Mohammad Husain urged the prime minister and the army chief to continue the ongoing operation against terrorists till elimination of all terrorists. Meanwhile, Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry's (KCCI) dinner which was schedule for Thursday was postponed to express sympathies and solidarity with the bereaved families of the victims of Safoora Chowk tragedy.
