The prices of essential kitchen items have increased as compared last week, reveals a survey conducted by Business Recorder here on Saturday. The survey observed that the prices of most of the vegetables, fruits, chicken and eggs during the week under review registered a further increase. It was also noted that the leading cigarette manufacturers and wholesalers as well as the retailers have increased the prices of different brands in the range of Rs 3 per pack to Rs 10 per pack.
During the week under review, tomatoes prices in wholesales market increased by Rs 10 per 5kg from Rs 260 per 5kg to Rs 270 per kg, while in retail market, the commodity is being sold at Rs 60-70 per kg. The chicken prices in wholesales market registered an increase of Rs 400 per 40kg from Rs 5,200 per 40kg to 5,600 per 40kg. Spinach price increased by Rs 20 per kg from Rs 15 per kg to Rs 35 per kg, tinda increased by Rs 10 per kg from Rs 30 per to Rs 40 per kg in wholesales market while in retail market the commodity is being sold at Rs 50 per kg against Rs 40 per kg.
Carrot price went up by Rs 15 per kg in wholesales market from Rs 35 per kg to Rs 50 per kg, while in retail market it is being sold at Rs 60 per kg against Rs 50 per kg. Radish is being sold at Rs 30 per kg in retail market and at Rs 20 in wholesales market.
During the week under review, the prices of onions registered a further increase of Rs 20 per 5 kg in wholesales market from Rs 280 per 5 kg to Rs 300 per 5kg, and in retail market, the commodity is being sold at Rs in the range of Rs 60 per kg to Rs 70 per kg and potatoes are being sold at Rs 20 to Rs 30 per kg. Shimla Mirch (capsicum) prices has increased by Rs 20 per kg from Rs 40 per kg to Rs 60 per kg, okra price registered a decline of Rs 40 per kg from Rs 120 per kg to Rs 80 per kg and Karalla went up by Rs 10 per kg which is being sold at Rs 80 per kg against Rs 70 per kg.
Arvi (Taro) price also witnessed an increase of Rs 10 per from Rs 30 per kg to Rs 40 per kg, cauliflower price increased by Rs 10 per kg from Rs 30 per kg to Rs 40 per kg and cabbage prices remained stable at Rs 30 per kg. Bean price went down by Rs 10 per kg in wholesales market from Rs 65 per kg to Rs 55 per kg, while in retail market it is being sold at Rs 60-65 per kg against Rs 75 per kg.
