The ratio of white-collar crime, dishonouring of cheques, has badly increased like other crimes including burglary, car snatching and motorcycle theft in the heavily guarded federal capital during the last week. According to data gathered by Business Recorder, the city police registered as many as 12 cases of dishonouring of cheques worth Rs 263.5 million, three cases of car theft of Rs 2.4 million, five cases of bike theft Rs 280,000 and five cases of robbery during which citizens lost valuables of worth Rs 6.8 million during the last week.
A bank will refuse to make a payment if the cheque is dishonoured because of insufficient amount in the account of person - a dishonesty that is considered a criminal offence in Pakistan under Section 489-F of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC), 1860. Similarly, the ratio of bike theft and robbery showed an upward trend while the ratio of car theft witnessed a slight decrease during the last week.
Like past, according to the crime statistics the most favourite areas for robbers and auto theft were Margalla, Koshar, Koral and Aabpra police station. Margalla Police Station registered three cases of auto theft and one each case of robbery and cheque dishonour during the last week. The detail of stolen car and bikes is as follows. Motor vehicle thieves stole Mehran car (YV-865) worth Rs 500,000 of Hassan Raza Jafari from KRL hospital car parking, lifted a bike (RIL-6192) worth Rs 60,000 of Umer Ijaz from Faisal Mosque car parking, and anther bike (RIL-1112) of Rs 80000 belonged to Muhammad Ikram Zahir from the same area.
Muhammad Zareen of sector G-9/2 lodged a complaint with Margalla Police Station that two armed person broke into his house and snatched cash and mobile phone of Rs 500,000 at gunpoint. During the last week Kohsar Police Station registered two cases of motor vehicles theft and two cases of robbery. Auto thieves stole a bike (IDJ-2584) of Muhammad Attiqu ur Rehman from Blue Area while lifted a Mehran car (RIP-4797) of Usman Bashrat.
Unknown robbers stole two laptops and mobile phone from the car of Asad Ali parked at sector F-6/3. During another incident, gold ornament and cash of Rs 5,600,000 has been stolen from the car of Muhammad Umer Hayat parked at the parking of Shalimar Cricket Ground. During the last week Aabpara Police registered one case each of robbery, auto theft and cheque dishonour. Muhammad Shahid Abbasi lodged a compliant with Aabapra Police Station that unknown robbers stole three mobile phones worth Rs 20,000 from his house. Auto thieves stole a bike (RM-125) of Muhammad Fahim parked in front of his house.
