The Punjab Assembly on Monday evening approved Fatima Jinnah Medical University Bill 2015 by a majority vote. Law Minister Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman presented four bills for consideration of the house. As the house started proceedings Opposition leader Mian Mahmudur Rashid protested against the killing of two lawyers at Daska by police firing and demanded that the house should discuss only law and order of the province. The opposition also staged a walk out from the house.
The house unanimously adopted a resolution of the opposition to condemn killing of President of Daska Bar Association and another lawyer by SHO Daska Police Station. The resolution demanded of the house to take strict against the personnel involved in the tragic incident. Talking part in the debate on law and order situation in Punjab Mian Mahmudur Rasheed condemned brutalities of the Punjab Police whereas the home minister assured the house necessary reforms were being carried out in the police department. Punjab Assembly has now been adjourned sine die.
