It appears that attempts are being made to bring together PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and his father and co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari together and mend fences as photos of a family reunion in Dubai surfaced on social media on Tuesday. Rifts between the father and son have been widely reported in the Pakistan media, but the Pakistan People's Party denies any differences between former President Asif Ali Zardari and party chairperson Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, the young scion one of Pakistan's most powerful political families.
Photos tweeted by PPP leader Senator Saeed Ghani early on Tuesday showed the smiling faces of sister Bakhtawar Bhutto-Zardari and aunt Faryal Talpur posing with the young PPP chairman. "Nice to see Chairman @BBhuttoZardari @BakhtawarBZ & @FaryalTalpurPk together in Dubai," said the PPP senator in the tweet, which was re-tweeted by Bakhtawar to her 0.5 million followers.
According to party and family sources, the meeting at the Zardari House in Dubai on Monday was held in an attempt to mend fences between Bilawal and Zardari. Sources added that it was discussed at the meeting that a party convention should be organized in London before another one is held in Pakistan. The PPP chairperson abruptly left Pakistan after a party rally in Karachi last November, giving rise to speculation about his alleged falling out with his father. Earlier this month, Bilawalal completed his education to graduate from Oxford University with a Master Degree. He was congratulated for completing his degree by his father and sisters in messages posted on twitter.
