The lawyers of Islamabad observed a strike and boycotted the court proceedings to protest the killing of two lawyers in Daska on Monday, here on Tuesday. The two lawyers including the president of Daska bar were killed in the firing of police when they were protesting outside the Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA). The lawyers of Islamabad - district bar association, Islamabad High Court (IHC) bar association and Islamabad Bar Council (IBC) demanded the action against the police officials who opened fire on lawyers.
In a joint resolution, the lawyers demanded resignation of Punjab home minister and inspector general along with the compensation for the victims' families. The lawyers' representatives also demanded the challan to be produced against the police officials before the anti-terrorism court (ATC) within fortnight and the trial in this case to be conducted on day to day basis.
