Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that Rawalpindi-Islamabad Metro Bus service is a splendid project regarding provision of comfortable, speedy and affordable travelling facilities to the people and will bring a revolutionary change in transport sector. He said that this project is a shining example of utilisation of public money on the masses. He said that Rawalpindi-Islamabad Metro Bus project is the continuity of the process of change of transport culture started by the Punjab government through completing Lahore Metro Bus project in a record period of time and this journey will continue in future as well.
He was addressing a high-level meeting held in Islamabad regarding Rawalpindi-Islamabad Metro Bus project, Tuesday. Project Director Rawalpindi-Islamabad Metro Bus Project Zahid Saeed gave a detailed briefing on the progress of the project. Addressing the meeting, the Chief Minister said that such transport facilities will become available to the citizens of the twin cities with the inauguration of metro bus project as are available to the people in big cities of the world and all segments of the society will benefit from this project. He said that metro bus project is a reflection of priorities of the government with regard to public service. He said that metro bus service is a splendid project for eliminating transport problems and spending of resources on the masses.
Shahbaz Sharif said that this project of public service will soon be inaugurated and it will be an important day for the citizens of the twin cities. He said that metro bus service is an important step towards modernising transport means. He said that the work of installation of elevators on escalators on all packages of the project should be completed at the earliest. Shahbaz Sharif further directed that he should be informed on daily basis about the pace of work on all packages of the project. Later, the Chief Minister visited Package-5 Pak Secretariat bus station and directed to complete construction and decoration work as soon as possible. He also inspected Pak Secretariat bus station, landscaping and decoration at Package-5 bus stations. The Chief Minister appreciated the hard work and dedication of Project Director Commissioner Rawalpindi Zahid Saeed, Chairman CDA Maroof Afzal, contractors and engineers.
