Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif presided over a high-level meeting here on Wednesday which reviewed the targets of Annual Development Programme (ADP) 2015-16. Addressing the meeting, the Chief Minister said that special attention will be paid to the achievement of the targets of ADP for the progress of people and stability of economy. He said that more resources than the ratio of population will be fixed, like the previous years, for the development and prosperity of south Punjab districts.
He said that Pakistan Muslim League-N government believes in balanced development, therefore, uplift and prosperity of rural economy is among its priorities and development programmes worth billions of rupees have been launched for the betterment of the people living in backward areas. He said that completion of these programmes will result in provision of modern amenities and raising the living standard of the masses of less-developed areas.
The Chief Minister directed all departments and institutions to ensure transparent utilization of development funds and completion of development projects within timeframe. He said that funds are a trust of the nation, therefore, transparent and timely execution of welfare projects is of vital importance so that people could be benefited in the real sense.
The chief minister warned that delay in the implementation of development schemes will not be tolerated and the concerned departments should play an active role for the achievement of the development goals. He said the Punjab government has announced development strategy 2018 under which targets have been set for the strengthening of economy. He said that development strategy should be fully implemented and the achievement of the development targets should be ensured. He said that an effective system has been evolved with the help of information technology for the release and utilization of development funds.
He said that officers utilizing development funds within stipulated period will be encouraged while those showing poor performance will be held accountable. He also directed that third-party audit policy should be strictly implemented with regard to development projects.
