Chaudhary Abdus Salam Advocate, Chairman Executive Committee, Punjab Bar Council (PBC) has condemned tragedy of Daska and said that such horrified incidents are deep rooted conspiracy against the lawyers' community. Talking to newsmen, he said that state is duty bound to provide protection to the life of its subjects but the failure of the law enforcing agencies to fulfil their constitutional obligations have opened the floodgates of chaos and anarchy in the country.
Such incidents clearly indicate that the state has failed to prove its writ and will ultimately loss the right to govern, he added. Castigating the killing of two lawyers of Daska including President Tehsil Bar, Rana Khalid Advocate and another Member of Bar Association, Irfan Chowhan Advocate by a police officer in uniform, he said that Pakistan has been turned into a police state. The government has given unlimited powers to the Police department that is abusing these powers instead of fulfilling its constitutional duties to protect the masses.
It was very surprising that police officer has became slayer, he said and added that lawyers of Daska and Chunian have to now carve out a strategy to protect their lives instead of expecting any help from the police department. He also announced that Punjab Bar Council will itself investigate the Daska incident and we will try our best to get justice without any inordinate delay.
Chaudhry Abdus Salam alleged that killing in Daska followed by violent protestation was a conspiracy hatched by DPO Sialkot. Open firing in the presence of SHO is indicative of the abuse of state authority entrusted to it. Police officials should have to consider twice and fully observe law while visiting courts as we would not allow repetition of such killing by police in future. Concluding, he announced to continue protest by lawyers community till the hanging of the culprits involved in this heinous crime.
