Sindh Home Minister, Sohail Anwar Sayal during his visit to Police Headquarters here Wednesday said appointment of Station House Officers across the province will be made on basis of merit, performance and capabilities of the concerned officers. Addressing the police officers, the Minister said no political consideration would be extended in the matters related to promotions and posting in the department.
The Minister also assured that fresh inductions in the department would also be made on basis of requisite criterion, without any relief. "The fast changing conditions and the challenges of country in general and Sindh in particularly is exposed to demands that capacity building of police men is ensured on strong basis," said Sohail Anwar Sayal.
Urging the cops to play their role in building a public friendly perception of the department, the Minister said attention is being paid to enhance professional capacities in particular context of interrogation and investigation on modern lines.
He said all those failing to meet their professional obligations or reported to be indulged in corrupt practices could be removed from their positions. Provincial government, he said was also committed to implement reforms in the police department with equal attention to promote concept of community policing. This is necessary as while fighting against terrorists and criminals the police department also urgently needed support of law abiding citizens, said the Provincial Home Minister. Senior police officials were present on the occasion and these among others included Zonal DIGs, District SSPs, Divisional SPs, SDPOs and others.
