WWF-Pakistan and the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Ltd organised a seminar on the importance of energy conservation at Froebel's International School, Lahore here on Thursday. More than 400 students attended the seminar and gave their views in the form of interactive presentations on conserving energy. WWF-Pakistan Senior Officer Muhammad Amin said, "Energy conservation is a global issue and we have to think about it seriously.
We should use energy resources wisely, including switching off unnecessary lights, to promote energy efficiency. The youth of the nation can bring a positive change in conservation of natural resources especially natural gas." SNGPL Media Co-ordinator Mifrah Mahmood, who was the chief guest, also stressed the importance of conservation, specifically of natural gas, and about safety measures regarding gas usage. According to her, "Natural gas is one of the most important natural resource of the country, which we should use efficiently and sustainably for our future generations." In 2015, WWF-Pakistan collaborated with the gas company for the fourth consecutive year to raise awareness for conservation of natural gas through the Spellathon programme. This year, the outreach of the programme went up to more than 60, 000 students.
