The Lahore High Court on Thursday told Punjab's district co-ordination officers to offer an analysis about the prices of eatable items after decline in the petrol prices by June 15. The court was hearing a petition filed by a bar member named Azhar Saddique who has sought government action against traders involved in black marketing, hoarding and excessive profiteering.
The court said the officers concerned had failed to perform their responsibilities and the essential eatable items were still unaffordable by common man ahead of Ramazan. The petitioner argued that the government miserably failed to ensure a decrease in the prices after the significant decline in the petrol prices.
