While addressing at a gathering to celebrate the 17th "Youm-e- Takbeer at Nuclear Institute of Medicine & Radiotherapy (NIMRA) Jamshoro, the Chief Guest Professor Muneer Ahmad Junejo the Pro-Vice Chancellor Liaquat University of Medical & Health Sciences said, "It is a matter of pride that we are celebrating the 17th anniversary of "Youm-e-Takbeer" this year. The 28th May 1998 was an important day when Pakistan successfully conducted the nuclear tests & became the only Islamic country with nuclear capability.
It is the greatest achievement for the nation. The Guest of Honour, Member Provincial Assembly Sindh Khairunnisa Mughal in her address paid tribute to Shaeed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto who initiated the nuclear programme in the country. He appreciated the services being rendered by the Nuclear Institute of Medicine & Radiotherapy (NIMRA) Jamshoro for serving the patients suffering from different types of cancers and said that it is worth mentioning that the NIMRA is providing best possible diagnostic and treatment facilities to the patients of this region. Earlier, Dr Naeem Leghari, Director NIMRA in his welcome address said that "Youm-e-Takbeer" is celebrated as a national day in Pakistan every year as Pakistan, on May 28, 1998, joined the prestigious club of nuclear powers by conducting nuclear tests in response to India's initiative of testing nukes on May 11 and 13, the same year. Thus, Pakistan became the 7th World Nuclear Power and the 1st in the Muslim World.
