A couple of days after Home Minister Rajnath Singh issued warning to Kashmiri leaders over using anti-India slogans, Pakistani flags once again appeared during a gathering in Anantnag on Friday. This is the fifth such occasion in the last seven days. According to reports, supporters of separatist leader Shabir Shah were seen waving Pakistani flags during a rally which took place after Friday prayers.
Several Pakistani flags were waved at Shah's rally in Anantnag town, 52 kms from here, soon after Friday prayers, police sources said. The green flags of the neighbouring country were also waved from atop the vehicle where Shah was addressing the crowd, they said. Some among the crowd also set ablaze BJP flags during the rally. Soon after the rally, Shah was taken into custody by police from Khanabal when he was on his way back home in Srinagar, the sources said.
Mohammad Abdullah Tari and Molvi Bashir Ahmad, close aides of Shah, were also detained, the sources said. Home Minister Rajnath Singh had on Wednesday issued a warning for Kashmir separatists saying the government won't tolerate pro-Pak slogans on Indian territory. The minister, however, stressed that Centre was open for talks. During a rally held by separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani in Kashmir's Tral region earlier this month Pakistani flags were raised forcing the Centre to ask the state government to initiate strict action against those responsible. Last month, 45-year-old Kashmiri separatist Masarat Alam was arrested for raising pro-Pakistan slogans and flags at a rally attended by him.
