MQM Chief Altaf Hussain has said that nearly 18 federal and provincial law enforcement agencies (LEAs) were working throughout the country and astonishingly all were unaware of the filthy activities of 'Axact'. In a statement issued from London Secretariat, MQM Chief said 'Axact' was allegedly involved in selling fake degrees but it built an empire in the main cities of the country.
He said that after the publication of Declan Walsh's story in New York Times about the IT-based company 'Axact' scams involving fake degrees, non-existent online universities and manipulations of customers, the Pakistani media started gloating on the issue. He said 'Axact' group started a private TV channel 'BOL' with the illegal earnings by issuing fake degrees and the top Pakistani anchor persons joined the upcoming channel for some financial benefits and left their previous organisations.
He said all the noises were raised after the NY Times' story and the entire country media propagated the issue continuously. He said that it was incomprehensible to believe that a gigantic style organisation was involved in illegal activities and Pakistan's law enforcement agencies were unaware of it. He raised a question that the country, which had more than half of its population forced to live below the poverty line, had been spending billions of rupees on its security agencies and under their hook of the nose, such a heinous crime was being committed.
