The federal government under its next financial year Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) has proposed an amount of Rs 21.28 billion for 14 on-going and two new development schemes for Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and Gilgit-Baltistan. According to documents available with Business Recorder, a total of Rs 12 billion, including a foreign assistance of Rs 50 million, have been proposed for eight on-going development projects of Kashmir and Rs 9bn for six on-going development schemes of Gilgit-Baltistan for financial year 2015-16.
The two new schemes - a 20MW Hydro Power Project at Hanzil and installation of a regional grid at Gilgit-Balistan -, each costing Rs 100m and Rs 50m, respectively, would be introduced in the forthcoming financial year. The on-going projects of Azad Jammu and Kashmir include 48MW Jagran Hydro Power Project, construction of Rathoua Haryam Bridge across Reservoir Channel on Mirpur-Islamabad Road, Water Supply and Sewerage Scheme, Mirpur City, etc.
The on-going projects of Gilgit-Baltistan are: 26MW Hydro Power Project, Shagarthang (ADB); 30MW Hydro Power Project, Ghowan on Shavoke River, Ghanche (ADB); construction of 14MW Hydel Power Project (Naltar-V) and construction of 16MW Hydel Power Project (Naltar-III).
