Six persons were killed and dozens including a police constable injured, during local bodies' elections in different parts of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Saturday. Three persons were killed in Charsadda, two in D.I. Khan and one in Kohat while more than 30 persons injured in election-related incidents in the province. Two of those killed were real brothers; they were workers of QWP.
In Merozai area of district Kohat, one person was killed and three others injured when rivals started firing on opponents outside a polling station. The gruesome incident occurred when two rival political groups confronted each other in front of a polling station resulting in the killing of one person and injures to three others. The injured were rushed to district headquarters hospital.
Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) in Peshawar received 20 persons injured in election-related violence in different union councils of the provincial metropolis. In Nasapa, a suburban locality of Peshawar, three women were reportedly injured when they were caught in crossfire of two rival groups contesting elections. A clash was reported from Bana Mari and Hayatabad polling stations, lending to cause injuries to several people. In Bana Mari, unknown persons stormed a polling station and took away ballot boxes.
In Union Council Gorgat, a remote area of Dir Upper, five persons were reportedly wounded in a clash between supporters of Jamaat e Islami and PPP in Hangu, a police constable was injured due to firing in premises of a polling station at Karbogha UC. There were reports about those who were injured in Haripur district, Karak and Charsadda.
Furthermore, five persons, including PTI's Ihsanullah, were reportedly injured in a clash between the supporters of PTI and PML-N at Union Council Manglawar Swat. Reports to poll-related violence were also received from Rashakai Nowshera where candidates of rival groups put on fire ballot papers and boxes after levelling rigging allegations against each other. Resultantly, polling was suspended for sometimes and extra security personnel were called in to maintain law and order.
