Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervaz Khattak on Saturday blamed the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for the mismanagement witnessed across the province during the daylong polling. "We put the whole administration at the disposal of the ECP. Our job was to support and facilitate the Election Commission as per laws," Khattak said. The election wasn't conducted by the provincial government, he explained, adding that he could not interfere in the ECP's job.
The chief minister said that government would implement if ECP took any decision regarding complaints of rigging or barring women voters. He, however, rejected reports that women were stopped from voting in Nowshehra. Meanwhile, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Minister Mushtaq Ghani has said that armed groups of Awami National Party (ANP) had harassed PTI's voters. "If any PTI member was found involved in rigging, he would be expelled from the party," Ghani said. His remarks came as local government's elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were marred by fighting, rigging and mismanagement.
