PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tahrik e Insaf (PTI)’s tsunami has washed away all major political parties including PMLN, MMA, ANP and PPPP in their strongholds in Khyber Pakthunkhwa in general elections and is in strong position to form government for second consecutive term in the province for 2018-23 period.
According to unofficial results so far, PTI is leading on 64 seats of Khyber Pakthunkhwa followed by MMA’s 12, ANP’s eight, PPP and independents three seats each, showing PTI is all set to form government in KP for second consecutive term in the province. Strong political heavyweights like PPP Chairman, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, ANP Central President, Asfandyar Wali Khan, Central Ameer of Jumat e Islami Pakistan, Sirajul Haq, PMLN President, Shahbaz Sharif and MMA President Maulana Fazlur Rehman had lost to PTI candidates in their strongholds Malakand, Charsadda, Dir Lower, Swat and DI Khan.
Former Chief Minister KP, Akram Khan Durrani, former Federal Minister, Ghulam Ahmed Bilour, former Senator, Ghulam Ali, ex Federal Minister for Communication, Arbab Alamgir Khan, PMLN KP President Engr Amir Muqam, former Federal Minister Khawaja Muhammad Khan Hoti had also lost to PTI candidates.
Malakand had seen a major upset when PTI’s Junaid Akbar defeated PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on NA-8 that was once called Mini Larkana in the past.
Junaid Akbar has secured 81,310 votes against Bilawal 43,724 votes. Malakand’s results showed that voters has not accepted non-local candidates and voted in favour of Junaid Akbar for being native of the area besides keeping good governance, merit policies and reforms in Govt institutions made by PTI Govt in KP during last five years in mind.
Likewise, the voters of Swat had proved all analyses of political pundits wrong after Saleem Rehman of PTI defeated PMLN President Shahbaz Sharif on NA-3 Swat. Salimur Rehman secured 68,162 votes against Shahbaz Sharif 22,756 votes and is being considered a major upset in 2018 elections.
PTI had knocked out Jumat e Islami from its stronghold Dir Lower and Upper districts where Central Ameer of Jumat e Islami, Sirajul Haq had lost to PTI’s Muhammad Bashir Khan on NA-7 Dir Lower. Sirajul Haq bagged only 45918 votes against Bashir 62,416 votes.
The defeat of Sirajul Haq in his stronghold of Dir Lower is considered a major defeat by the political experts and great victory of PTI. New entrant in politics Mehboob Shah of PTI also won NA-6 Dir Lower with 54,723 votes against MMA's Maulana Asadullah stands at second with 31,404 votes.
Likewise, PTI’s Sahibzada Sibghatullah clinched victory from NA-5 Upper Dir by bagging 49,299 votes against runner up PPP's Najmuddin Khan 28,736 votes. Similarly, ANP Chief Asfandyar Wali Khan was defeated by Fazl Muhammad of PTI on NA 24 Charsadda-II, which is being considered yet another major upset in 2018 general elections. PTI’s tsunami swept away Peshawar from where its candidates have clinched victories from all five seats of the national assembly and so far 12 out of 14 in KP assembly.
PTI’Haji Shaukat Ali defeated veteran politician and former Federal Minister Ghulam Ahmed Bilour of ANP on NA-31 Peshawar-V with over 40000 votes.
Shaukat Ali secured 87,895 votes against runnerup Bilour’s 42,476 votes. Noor Alam Khan of PTI also clinched victory on NA-27 Peshawar with 71,158 votes against MMA's Haji Ghulam Ali stood runner-up with 39,310 votes. Likewise PTI's Arbab Amir Ayub secured victory in NA-28 Peshawar 2 with 74,414 votes against MMA's Sabir Hussain Awan’S 27,292 votes.
PTI'’s rookie Sher Ali Arbab also clinched victory from NA 30 Peshawar after securing 73,781 votes against MMA's Arbab Najeebullah Khan’s 18,111 votes.
Nasir Khan Yousafzai who joined PTI eight months ago after resigned from PMLN also clinched victory on NA-29 Peshawar with 49,762 votes. Two NA constituencies of Nowshera was also clinched by PTI where Pervez Khattak, former Chief Minister KP, had won NA-25, defeating Khan Pervez of PPP and ANP Juma Khan.
Dr. Imran Khattak who is the son in law of Pervez Khattak has also secured victory form NA-26 with 52,376 votes against ANP's Jamal Khan Khattak’s 41,678 votes. Another major upset was witnessed on NA-38 DI Khan where PTI’s Ali Amin Gandapur with 80236 votes clinched victory against MMA's Chief Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman stood second with 45,457 votes.
However, Maulana Fazlur Rehman is also contesting from NA-39 DI Khan-II and its result is awaited. PTI had also made deep inroads in Hazara division in this election against 2013 elections and clinched two NA seats from Haripur and Abbottabad. Umer Ayub Khan of PTI won NA-17 Haripur after attaining 166,786 votes against PML-N's Babar Nawaz Khan who stood runner-up s with 149,292 votes. Likewise Ali Khan Jadoon of PTI emerged victorious from NA-16 Abbottabad, defeating Malik Mohammad Awan of PMLN.
However, PMLN’s Javed Abbasi has emerged successful on NA-15 Abbottabad. PTI also won two provincial assembly seats of Abbottabad PK-38 and PK-39 and lost PK-37. Former Higher Education Mushtaq Ahmed Ghani also secured his seat after securing 22070 votes against PML-N Inayat Khan Jadoon stood runner up with 17540 votes on PK 39 Abbottabad.
Former provincial minister for Food Qalandar Khan Lodhi of PTI won PK-38 after securing 31037 votes.
However, PTI’s Waqar Nabi had lost PK-37 to PMLN’s Sardar Aurangzeb who secured 36340 votes against Waqar’s 23056 votes. PTI's Haji Khayal Zaman retained his NA-33 Hangu seat by securing 27,734 votes against runner up MMA’s Attiqur Rehman, who bagged 24,197 votes. Former Speaker KP Assembly PTI's Asad Qaiser also retained his NA-18 Swabi 1after securing 77,791 votes against MMA's Fazal Ali bagged 33,667 votes.
The votes of Mardan has also voted in favour of PTI where Mujahid Ali of PTI won NA-20 with 40,000 votes against PPP's Nawabzada Khawaja Muhammad Khan Hoti 13,000 votes.
Ali Mohammad Khan of PTI has retained his NA-22 Mardan with 58,577 votes against MMA’s Maulana Mohammad Qasim who received 56,318 votes.
