Pakistan Awami Tehreek Secretary General Khurram Nawaz Gandapur has claimed that a report issued by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) Survey has revealed false claims by the Punjab government's development programmes. He has claimed that compared to 2013, the year 2014 witnessed a rise of the rate of unemployment in the Punjab and that "is a solid proof of the false claims being made by the Punjab chief minister".
"Because of the personal favourite policies of the Punjab chief minister, today the Punjab has come under the burden of Rs 700 billion," he told a meeting of the party's social media group on Wednesday. "The PBS [Pakistan Bureau of Statistics] Labour Survey should be an eye-opener for the rulers ... The Punjab has not witnessed development but rather it has seen all the personal desires of the chief minister being fulfilled. Everyone in the province is screaming that the resources of the Punjab are being spent on faulty schemes but it is astonishing that the Punjab chief minister remains unmoved. All the funds amounting to over Rs 500 billion have been spent on the seven schemes that are considered as the favourite of the Punjab chief minister that are the Metro Bus Lahore and Rawalpindi, the Sasti roti project, Yellow Cabs, Ashaina, Labtop and solar lamp schemes ... These schemes have led to further unemployment in the province."
Hhe chief minister ought to answer before the public as to why he had misused the public funds, he added. "This amount should have been spent on clean drinking water schemes in the province, agriculture and industrial schemes which would have given employment to thousands of unemployed people.
