Appointment of a director in Workers Welfare Fund (WWF) has been challenged in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Saturday. A petitioner Sajjad Hussain challenged the appointment of Waseem Afzal Warriach as director in the WWF (BPS-19), making Secretary Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Director General of the WWF, Chairman of the Higher Education Commission Islamabad respondents.
WWF is an autonomous body under the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development. The petitioner alleged that the appointment of Mr Warrick was illegal because of his bogus MBA and BA degrees, saying that the said director done Matriculation in 2nd division (in parts) with grace marks in Mathematics and Physics and passed Intermediate/ F.A exam in 3rd division with grace marks in English.
According to him, Mr Warrick had passed B.A. Examination in 1st division in November 26, 2011 ,while he was working as director WWF in early 2011. Petitioner stated that last date to applying for the post was December 8, 2010, written test of short-listed candidates was held on January 8, 2011 and interviews on January 29, 2011. According to the petition Mr Warriach had worked as assistant in the Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) Bank from 1993 to 2009 and his services were terminated on December 31, 2009 under Voluntary Separation Scheme. The petition requested the court to declare the appointment of Mr Warraich as illegal.
