Speaker Sindh Assembly, Agha Siraj Durrani has said that the budget 2015-16 announced by the federal government was balanced and the Sindh government would announce provincial budget soon. Addressing a book-launching ceremony of Agha Shahabuddin on his fourth death anniversary held at a local hotel on late Saturday night, Durrani observed that within the span of two years, the Sindh Assembly is number one in legislation as compared to other assemblies in the country.
He said that Pakistan Peoples' Party was ready to contest the local government elections being held in September this year and once the process of limitation is finalised.
The issues of mismanagement and corruption as highlighted in the book but such things are further exposed by the media, he said.
"The posts of TMOs have become very attractive alike previously the posts in Customs, PIA and other departments," he maintained.
He recalled that when he took the charge of local government ministry, it took him six months to improve its efficiencies where all kinds of professionals including teachers, doctors and others were working as TMOs.
Benazir Bhutto was his teacher and an institution for him as he had learned a lot from her which would remain beneficial for the rest of his life, he said, adding that he is still in the process of learning.
On the occasion, Leader of the QAT, Ayaz Latif Palejo said that they had to speak the truth which was the only way to bring better governance and resolve other issues in Sindh province.
"Hundreds of deaths occurred in Thar, if such things happened in developed nation, the government of such nation has been dissolved but nothing occurred to the Sindh government," he said.
Such things are occurring because there is not single person to speak the truth, he observed.
Leader of the SUP, Jalal Mahmood Shah said that the book written by Agha Shahabuddin highlighted the role and attitude of bureaucracies and such things should be followed by other bureaucrats who have gone retired.
Former Vice Chancellor Sindh University, Mazhar-ul-Siddiqui said that the government should invest in the human resources development which carries a great importance in developing country. Yousuf Laghari, Hameed Sindhi, Jhamat Mal and others also spoke on the occasion.
