Trade Testing Board (TTB) awarded 700 certificates to uncertified skilled manpower. TEVTA is offering 15 trades to uncertified skilled workers through Recognition of Prior Learning (Ustaad Shagird Nizam) at 26 institutes in 5 districts in first phase. After successfully getting certification, now they will be accepted at national and international level as certified skilled workforce.
Chairperson Irfan Qaiser Shaikh told the board members at the TEVTA Secretariat, which also drew in Engineer Sohail Lashari, Ahmad Shafiq, Abdul Khalique Khan, Sohail Afzal, General Managers Abdul Qayum, Hamid Ghani Anjum, Engr. Azhar Iqbal Shad, Akhtar Abbas Bharwana, Trade Testing Board Manager Nabila Kazmi were also present, that the board, working under TEVTA, was merely conducting the examination of GPATI training course in the Punjab.
"GPATI is a brand name of Germany Pakistan Training Initiative, which is Co-operative Training with 50 percent on the job training at actual workplace. The Trade Testing Board designed specific assessment procedure for the curricula designed by German experts. For the first time, employers have participated in Assessment Process and On Job Training Certificate are mandatory to earn Qualification Certificate. The Trade testing board is also conducting examination of one and two-year's diploma being offered at the Government Technical Training Institutes (male and female) across the province of the Punjab."
Board Members Engineer Sohail Lashari and Ahmad Shafiq in their speeches praised the efforts by TEVTA for re-establishing the linkage between public and private sector. "Private sector needs trained manpower meeting their business requirement. Introduction of demand driven short courses by TEVTA will meet the shortage of trained manpower. Provision of skilled manpower by TEVTA will play its role to uplift the national economy," they said.
